The B&B Club-kotobuki is at Castel San Pietro romano. A picturesque village of ancient origins
situated on the ancient acropolis of Preneste at about 2.290 feet above sea level ( the view
from here , going from the prenestini mountains to the alban hills, has given to it the nickname
of " a balcony above the province of Rome").
But the panorama is not all! Take a stroll in the narrow street of the medieval villa and stop at
the beautiful church of San Pietro, with its precious altar prepared by Pietro da Cortona, or climb
up to the Rocca dei Colonna, a fortress dating back to the early middle age in wich, among others,
Iacopone da Todi, the poet, was imprisoned .
worth a visit are also the well preserved cyclopic walls of the VIII century BC going all around the
village.
If you like to walk take some excursions to the Valle delle Cannucceta, a natural reserve with some
archeological ruins , or the Tempio della Fortuna Primigenia in Palestrina, the city of the music,
The ancient monastery of "La Mentorella" at Guadagnolo (the former pope John Paul II used to live
there before becoming a pope), or the fabulous town of Capranica with its interesting church projected
by Bramante.....
